Ray Haikal (he/him)
Ray Haikal is an emerging queer Lebanese-Australian artist based in Brisbane, Queensland. After years in architecture and project management, Ray embraced his artistic passion for painting, shedding fears of failure to explore self-expression. His practice focuses on playful explorations of abstract visual expressions, guided by emotions, memories, and music. Viewing nature through a queer lens, each landscape inspires a unique palette and evokes feelings that shape his brushstrokes. Working with acrylic and mixed media, Ray creates layered compositions that detach from imagery, infusing each piece with secrets, magic and romance, inviting viewers to discover hidden narratives within.
